About Ottawa Weekly

Ottawa Weekly is your trusted source for everything happening in and around Canada’s vibrant capital. From breaking news to inspiring local features, our mission is to deliver relevant, timely, and community-driven journalism that informs, connects, and empowers our readers.

We cover a wide range of topics that matter to Ottawans — including politics, business, arts and culture, health, events, and lifestyle — with a strong focus on accuracy, diversity, and transparency. Whether you’re a longtime resident, a curious visitor, or someone considering a move to the city, Ottawa Weekly is here to give you a fresh and insightful view into life in Ottawa.

What Makes Us Different

We believe that local journalism is the heartbeat of a strong community. Ottawa Weekly is independently owned and operated, allowing us to prioritize integrity over sensationalism and deliver content that truly resonates with our readers. Our team is passionate about storytelling that reflects the people, places, and perspectives that make Ottawa unique.

From local restaurant spotlights and weekend event roundups to investigative reporting and community profiles, we’re more than just news — we’re a voice for the city and the people who call it home.

Meet the Founder – Selene Marlowe

Selene Marlowe is the heart and soul behind Ottawa Weekly. With a background in digital media and a lifelong passion for journalism, Selene founded the publication to bridge the gap between traditional reporting and the dynamic stories of everyday citizens.

Originally from Halifax but now a proud Ottawa resident, Selene brings over a decade of editorial experience to the site, having previously worked for both national media outlets and grassroots publications. Her approach to storytelling is fueled by a belief in truth, transparency, and the importance of giving local voices a platform to be heard.

When she’s not reporting on city council meetings or reviewing a new café in the Glebe, you’ll find her hiking the Gatineau trails or browsing through indie bookstores on Elgin Street. Selene also mentors young writers and leads workshops in community journalism across Ontario.

Join the Community

We welcome feedback, contributions, and collaborations. Ottawa Weekly is here to grow with and for the community. Whether you’re a reader, writer, advertiser, or advocate — there’s a place for you here.

Thank you for supporting independent local media.
